About the Founder & Executive Director
The Founder & Executive Director is Lieutenant Colonel Gerry Scott US Army Reserve-Retired a lifetime equestrian and professional horseman living in the State of Maine. To set the example for others, Gerry is a Horses Over America team leader not for 1 but for 12 towns and cities in 3 states. As a retired US Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Gerry was fortunate when he was a Captain to command one of our Army’s prestigious horse units. Later he went on to own seven of his own horses including Morgan’s, Thoroughbreds, Clydesdales, Hanoverians and now a spectacular 17.3 hand Friesian gelding named “Hercules”. Over the years Gerry has ridden in a military exchange program with the Queen’s Household Cavalry in London, used horses in the burial ceremonies of America’s fallen warriors, led America’s largest parades and is nationally recognized for teaching yoga with horses including at the worlds largest yoga festivals.
Full time, Gerry had his start working in finance for what is now Morgan Stanley. Gerry then became the founder and CEO of the Wall Street Investor Forum competing with world’s largest investment banks conducting institutional investor conferences in New York, Boston and London for 25 years. Gerry appeared regularly on/in CNBC, Bloomberg TV/Radio, Barron’s, etc. Outside of being an equestrian, Gerry has a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy. Gerry taught graduate/undergraduate business classes including those in management, finance, entrepreneurship and marketing at Boston University and Norwich University part time for ten years each. Gerry is also a five time runner of the Boston Marathon.
